The direct gaze used in my music video can be linked to a lot of other music videos of the same genre as my song, for instance in the examples above - Your Demise and Architects.  Goodwin proposed that this direct gaze can be used through mirrors and screen to get an insight into the artist which is linked to the influence of the record label on the band. The direct gaze acts as a portal for the audience to see the video through the perceptive of a bystander, or through a certain particular person. For example in other music videos such as Beyonce or Christina Agulara you have the male gaze acting as the perceptive of the audience, showing sexual objectification of women. However in my shot I have shown the audience the reflection of the artist and the emotives that have been at play.
