Basic Idea for Music Video
I'm now going to run through a basic scene by scene of the music video Jess and I are planning.

  • Firstly we thought we'd start the video off as a basic everyday shoot of the lead singers life and the background to it all (Not played by the real lead singer of the band) This will include footage at the house and maybe in an outside environment (Yet to be confirmed)
  • This would let the audience have an in sight to the generic aspects to the genre of music and also set the scene and the type of audience that would listen to this kind of sound.
  • Throughout the music video we planned on having flashbacks to a nightmare the lead singer had the night before. This will include a girl standing in a darkly lit bathroom and we are going to create a dark setting around her. Although the lyrics to the song are all about staying young and living forever, we were going to go against that and contrast the lyrics with the action on the screen. Condradicting what the song says as we thought this would be more interesting for the audience and suggest underlying meanings to the song.
  • Although the flashbacks throughout the video are just images from the lead singers nightmare, we were thinking of having a plot twist at the end, where you see the lead singer walking down an urban street, and the girl from his nightmare walks past, not recognizing him, but the lead singer realising who that was and turning to look back as she is carrying on walking. This would then suggest to the audience whether he was imagining the nightmares or whether they were real flashbacks.

to a trailer for the Polanski film "Repulsion" which is about a girl losing her mind and thus living a nightmare. In one scene the girl is running down a hallway and all the hands come out of the wall to grab her!!!!
